Sometimes you listen to a newfound band and you think: ‘This is too good to be true’. You’re almost certain that the amazing guitar riffs, tight drums and harmonious singing are so perfect more thanks to the mixing and producing than to the original artists. I had this experience while listening to Valour up Twice, a band from Holland who just had their new album ‘Kill your darlings’ released this spring. That’s why I told myself I wouldn’t write about this newfound favorite until I saw them live.
Well, I saw them live. And they weren’t too good to be true, they were amazing. Except for some technical difficulties, they rocked the show from the start chords of ‘People Die, People Love’ until the ending minute of ’Strange Seems to Be the New Normal Lately’. Although they might be a bit heavy (if you’re used to the regular Hedenblij bands) with influences such as Led Zeppelin, Wilco and Radiohead, they are worth a minute (or 12, that’s how long their title song ‘Kill Your Darlings’ is) of your time.
Their songs of the album ‘Kill Your Darlings’ can be found on Spotify. Here are some acoustic versions of their songs.
